Jordin Sparks

by Hal Marcovitz

Jordin Sparks was just 12 years old when Kelly Clarkson won the title on the first season of American Idol. Less than six years later, Jordin auditioned for American Idol and found herself competing in Hollywood. At first, Jordin was considered a long shot but she gained widespread support among Idol fans for her strong voice and commanding stage presence. At the age of 17, Jordin won the competition, becoming the youngest American Idol winner in the show's history. After winning Idol, Jordin overcame a potentially career-ending medical emergency when she lost her voice, but recovered and has gone on to tour and make many personal appearances on TV and radio. She has also released two hit albums, establishing herself as one of pop music's brightest stars.
